Homeric Hymn to Eurydice

Fall 2022 – CC220: Classical Mythology

This project taps into the First and Fourth learning goals of the Skidmore College Classics Department:

  • Read Greek and Latin prose and poetry within their larger cultural and historical settings
  • Read and analyze historical documents within their social contexts and evaluate the role of the individual in ancient cultures

It also displays the Visual Literacy because it includes a hand-drawn portrait of Eurydice.

Not Just a Fanfiction: A Cross-Comparison of the Aeneid and the Odyssey 

Spring 2023 – CC200: Classical World

This project taps into the Second and Sixth learning goals of the Skidmore College Classics Department:

  • Read critically and analyze closely literary texts and modern scholarship
  • Present orally and in written form an argument supported by primary and secondary sources

It also displays the Informational Literacy as it is an argumentative research paper.

Spring 2023 – CC265: Mapping Rome

This project taps into the third and fifth learning goals of the Skidmore College Classics Department:

  • Identify and assessing selected artifacts and monuments within their cultural contexts
  • Conduct research by traditional and digital methods

It also displays the Oral Communication Literacy, having been a formal presentation in a public space.

Fall 2023 – CC265: The Body and Soul in Ancient Greece

This project taps into the Fifth and Sixth learning goals of the Skidmore College Classics Department:

  • Conduct research by traditional and digital methods
  • Present orally and in written form an argument supported by primary and secondary sources

It also displays the Oral Communication Literacy, having been a podcast.

Spring 2024 – CC230: Romans in their Environment

This project taps into the first and fourth learning goals of the Skidmore College Classics Department:

  • Read Greek and Latin prose and poetry within their larger cultural and historical settings
  • Read and analyze historical documents within their social contexts and evaluate the role of the individual in ancient cultures

It also displays the Visual Literacy due to Minecraft’s nature as a visual learning tool.

Women’s Lives in Antiquity StoryMap

Spring 2024 – AN371: Women’s Lives in Antiquity

This project taps into the Third and Seventh learning goals of the Skidmore College Classics Department:

  • Identify and assess selected artifacts and monuments within their cultural contexts
  • Develop multi- and cross-cultural perspectives and apply them to gender, ethnic, and social issues

It also displays the Technological Literacy as it utilizes a unique technological platform to convey information.

Cassandra as a Muse Podcast Project – Script Two

Fall 2024 – CC371: Cassandra as a Muse

This project taps into the Second and Eighth learning goals of the Skidmore College Classics Department:

  • Read critically and analyze closely literary texts and modern scholarship
  • Assess and present scholarship of a theoretical nature and apply theory to both primary and secondary sources

It also displays the Informational Literacy as it is an informational script for a podcast episode drafted from literary research.
